I would love to try something like scrapbooking but more projects/hobbies like this to show off my willingness to have fun and creativeness. Any one have any ideas please? I would LOVE to keep myself busy instead of worrying about my problems. Thanks! =)
collage, decopauge, ceramics, stepping stones,
I want to do some welding and I was wondering where I could get some cheap scrap steel.
Not knowing the type, size or condition of the metal you want I can offer several suggestions. First I would look under scrap yards in the phone book to see if any exist in your area. Years ago most metro areas had at least one but now things are more centralized. Secondly you could find any junk yards around. While their major market is vehicles, some also except any scrap metal to accumulate and ship to a foundry. Lastly you can check for metal fabricators in your area, the ones that supply steel girders, products and rebar to construction firms.
The first two might let you pick thru things for free or charge a nominal fee for what you want. A steel yard may let you have some of their scrap but for anything of value to them they would probably charge you the going price. How much you want and the condition of what you want will determine what you can get it for.
Good Luck!
I recently bought vellum ’saying’ stacks at Michaels.
I wanted to use them for scrapbooking but I don’t know how too transfer them on my scrapbooking paper. Should I rub them on? I already tried rubbing them on with a ruler, this did not work out… I asked my friends who also do scrapbooking but they didn’t know either. So please help me out!
Greetz,
Xloortje!
They’re not rub-ons, they’re made for cutting and pasting on.
You can attach them with a glue suitable for vellum, something that dries very clear and thin. Perhaps something recommended for vellum, such as vellum dots, or a good glue stick, or running it through a Xyron (which will make it into a sticker, with the adhesive even and invisible).
You could also use brads or decorative photo corners, or tie it down with ribbons or fibres.
Another option is to attach the vellum saying behind another opaque paper cut into a frame, with an opening, then use your adhesive of choice on the opaque frame.
Have fun!
I’m going to be making a scrapbook for the book 1984. I chose seven items to include and that are going to use up 4 pages.
The thing is, as of now I’m going to be stapling paper together and calling it a scrapbook. Does anybody have any creative ideas? I can’t really go out and buy an actual scrapbook only because I don’t need that many pages.
You can make a pamphlet book or a chap book.
Inexpensive and a quick project, not a big deal to put together.
Very easy to do and can be constructed in less than 5 minutes, 10 minutes at the most.
For your project of four pages –you would only need two sheets of computer paper and a piece of card stock, string/yarn/embroidery floss/ribbon, and a hole punch.
This would give you 8 pages but the first and last pages are your title page and your end page with the center 4 your content pages.
I am very sure you would be happy with the results!

are there any males here,, or do you know of any males who do scrapbooking. Do you think it is more of a female hobby?
My husband & I do it together. It’s funny cause when we go into the store together, the people that work there are always surprised that we work on it together & tell me to hide him before the other ladies get jealous!
I have been wondering how much scrap steel is worth lately. As I’ve looked around on craigslist I’ve noticed more and more people advertising a car for sale that has a firm price and if not sold it will be taken to the scrap yard. The prices these people are claiming to be able to get from these cars seems kind of high. Is steel really bringing that kind of money now?
About $287 per ton
