As a mom, how do you best stucture your day and/or week to get housework done and still have time for hobbies?

Posted by admin on September 6th, 2010 and filed under scrapbooking hobbies | 8 Comments »

My youngest is in all day school this year and I’m thinking of working part time, but as it is I cannot stay on top of all the housework and other "mothering" chores that I need to do. Besides I have hobbies I enjoy (scrapbooking and sewing) that I’d rather not give up. As it is, I watch no television because I do not have time to! Do any of you have a specific daily routine that you follow so that you don’t waste time? I’d love to hear what works for you!

Schedule it in!!! I have 4 kids…starting a fulltime job and am a single mom to top it off. I carve out at least a half hour at night when they are all in bed to do what I want to do….which is crocheting. I also do a bit of sewing and reading as well. Your kids will remember you being a happy and well adjusted mom and not remember wether or not you scrubbed the toliet everyday! I do household chores in the morning and at night when they are eating or doing their homework. Every other weekend my ex has the kids so I make it a point to spend the whole weekend doing the things I want to do and NO CHORES!! Also my kids pitch in and do chores as well…so it doesn’t all fall on me to do.

What are your thoughts on scrapbooking?

Posted by admin on September 3rd, 2010 and filed under scrapbooking hobbies | 12 Comments »

A contact has me thinking about scrapbooking.
What kind of scrapbooking is fun? I mean really.

    <— needs a new hobby

It’s hardcore. It requires agility, beer, endurance, a keen eye for photography, acid free mats, rubber cement, and the fortitude to carry on when every female in the Western Hemisphere thinks you are a complete bottom-feeder.

It’s like restoring a 1966 K-Code Mustang fastback in the nude, only with stickers and glitter.

Is Casco water based hobby glue safe for scrapbooking?

Posted by admin on August 31st, 2010 and filed under scrapbooking hobbies | 2 Comments »

you basically answered your own question :)
your glue is water based, and should therefor be safe for scrapbooking. the glues that are not safe contain acid. in itself the glue is safe to use ofcourse, but in days to come it will damage your pages and wont last. which would be a shame as you probably put some work in and want to save them for ‘the next generation’?

what is the room called where you do things ( models, scrapbooking, sewing, painting)?

Posted by admin on August 29th, 2010 and filed under scrapbooking hobbies | 20 Comments »

I think it is a workshop (without the tools), but it is in the house. I want to make part of my great room into an area or zone that is for playing board games and doing all our hobbies. Trying to find decorating ideas to split up a BIG room 17′ x 31′ as a TV room and a _______ room. what do you call that?

I would go with craft room, though when I was growing up I guess my parent’s just lacked imagination, they called it the "junk room."

Can I get good disney scrapbooking supplies at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby?

Posted by admin on August 26th, 2010 and filed under scrapbooking hobbies | 3 Comments »

I just went to disney world and now I want to make a scrapbook with my pictures I took. Do they have good disney stickers, paper, etc. at Michael’s or Hobby Lobby?

I would try Hobby Lobby over Michael’s. I have seen lots of Disney stuff there and their prices are better too.
